Introduction

The English department, one of the country’s largest and oldest humanities departments make head away at Maria with the transcendence in teaching and honing communicative rhetorical skills. Learning English literature contributes richly to community living and comradeship. It has bloomed at Maria for social and national needs of women student competence. We provide insistent mentoring to our students both in and beyond the classroom in a wide variety of forums. Ongoing lectures, filmscreenings, symposia, conferences, and colloquia on interdisciplinary themes make up our calendar. We help the students to gain special skills in analysis, close reading and writing, develop an inquisitive mind, look beyond the syllabus and think for themselves to enrich their lives.
